Samarkand Airport to the city: choosing a bus or transfer
Your plan for leaving Samarkand Airport depends on your destination: a hotel in the city centre or a station for an onward train? Check the airport's official transport page, then compare public transport with a separately arranged car according to your luggage and arrival time.

The airport's ‘How to get there’ page lists buses M1 and 256 between the airport and Samarkand's central railway station. A car is therefore not the only option worth considering for leaving the airport.
This information does not confirm that a bus will be available at a time that suits your flight. Before travelling, check current operating hours, the route and payment arrangements on the official page or with the airport information service. We do not reproduce fares and timetables here because they may change.
Be clear whether you need a hotel or the station
Registan, Shah-i-Zinda and Gur Emir are among the attractions listed on Samarkand's official tourism page. But telling a driver ‘towards Registan’ does not provide your accommodation's exact address. Identify the hotel entrance first and plan your sightseeing separately.
If you are connecting to a train, check the station name on your ticket or reservation. If you are going to a hotel, consider the final stretch after the bus: can you comfortably walk with your luggage, or will you need more transport? Compare the options all the way to that final destination.
When should you consider an arranged pickup?
With a lot of luggage, a group travelling together or a complicated destination, an arranged pickup may make the logistics easier. Assess it alongside the journey after the bus and the need to carry luggage, rather than looking only at the car's price.
Confirm in writing the agreed meeting point inside or outside the terminal. Airport access and stopping rules may affect the provider's arrangements. Do not assume the driver can wait anywhere; keep the instructions for making contact when you reach the exit.
Update your plan if the flight changes
Samarkand Airport's official website has an online arrivals and departures board and a terminal map. Checking them again close to your journey can help you clarify the meeting arrangements.
Save the address and a copy of your arrangements on your phone so that you can open them without internet access. Let one person in the group contact the driver: several people giving directions from different places can make meeting harder. As well as saving the number, agree who will call or send the first message.
Before you travel
- Open the airport's current transport information.
- Record the exact hotel or station name.
- Account for the final stretch after the bus journey.
- Confirm luggage capacity and the pickup point.
- Recheck the flight board and your contact arrangements.
Questions and answers
Is there a bus from the airport to the station?
The official airport page lists routes M1 and 256. Recheck services and operating hours for your travel date with that source.
Is a transfer always better than a bus?
No. With light luggage and a suitable route, a bus is worth considering. When choosing an arranged pickup, assess your group, luggage and the convenience of reaching your final destination.
Where can I find the exact bus or car price?
Use the airport's official page for public transport information and ask your chosen provider for a car quote. This article does not confirm a current price.
